Acquisitions aren't bad for customers by definition. A bigger parent can bring more inventory, more technicians, and a larger monitoring operation. But the account usually changes in some way: new contracts, new billing, new dispatch, and sometimes new technicians who don't know the building. Some customers welcome that. The riskiest part of any provider change is the paperwork. Open deficiencies from the last fire alarm or sprinkler inspection have to be carried forward and fixed, not lost when the account moves. We ask for the last two years of reports, list every open item, and schedule the next inspection on the existing cycle so the fire marshal sees an unbroken record. Who Is My Technician?: A name and a local office, not just a service number.
What's the Emergency Response Time?: For a fire alarm trouble condition or a door stuck unlocked, in hours.
Did My Rates or Terms Change?: Compare the reissued agreement line by line with the original.
Where Are My Inspection Reports?: You should be able to get every report for your building on request.

How a Switch Works

First we read the current agreement for term, renewal, and notice language. Then we inspect the fire alarm, intrusion, and access systems and tell you what stays. Most panels and devices can be taken over, but some are locked to the previous provider's monitoring and need a new communicator. Did Pye-Barker buy Alarmguard and Sentry Watch?

Yes. Pye-Barker announced the acquisition of both Greensboro-based companies in December 2023. Sonitrol of the Carolinas also operates as part of Pye-Barker.

Can I switch providers in the middle of a contract?

It depends on the agreement. Many commercial contracts auto-renew with a notice window. We'll read yours and plan the switch for the earliest clean date.

Will I need new fire alarm equipment?
