Security & Life Integrations Inc

Security Systems for Hotels and Hospitality

At 3 a.m. a hotel is a lobby, one night auditor, a cash drawer, and 120 sleeping guests on floors nobody is watching. The front desk is the most exposed post in the building and the fire alarm is the system every guest depends on without knowing it exists. We design, install, and service both for hotels across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia: duress buttons at the desk, cameras where disputes start, access control on the doors staff use, and fire alarm work scheduled around occupied rooms. What we bring is the fire alarm and access control credentials a hotel owner or management company should ask for. Our fire alarm work is done by NICET Level III certified technicians under NC license SP.FA/LV.36697, which covers North Carolina only.

Talk to Us About Your Hotel

The Night Audit Problem

Night audit is the shift where a hotel's security design gets tested, because one person handles check-ins, cash, and every call from the floors. A silent panic button under the desk and another in the back office reaches a central station without anything audible in the lobby. The operator calls the property, dispatches police if nobody answers, and logs the time. Wireless pendants cover the auditor who walks the building or stocks the breakfast bar. Duress is a small line item next to what an incident costs, and it is the first thing we price on a hotel walkthrough.

Cameras Where Disputes Start

Hotel camera design is about claims, not just crime: the slip at the pool entrance, the car dent in the lot, the guest who says a bag was taken from the lobby. Coverage that settles those questions is narrower than most owners expect. The front desk and entrance doors, the lobby seating, each elevator lobby, stairwell exits at ground level, the loading dock, and the parking lot with plate capture at the drive entrance. Guest-room corridors get cameras at the ends and at the stairs, never into a room or a restroom. Retention is a policy decision, usually 30 to 90 days, and we set it in writing so management can explain it to a claims adjuster.

What Goes on a Hotel Walkthrough

The same six items come up on every property, and each one has a different owner inside the building:

  • Fire alarm panel and devices: Age of the panel, parts availability, guest-room notification, and the inspection record the fire marshal will ask for.

  • Staff and back-of-house doors: Kitchen, laundry, linen, engineering, and storage doors that should open for the right badge and log every entry.

  • Front desk duress: Silent buttons at the desk, the office, and the manager's station, monitored around the clock.

  • Guest-area and parking cameras: Entrances, lobby, elevator landings, pool deck, and the lot, with remote viewing for the general manager.

  • Elevator and amenity access: Floor lockout after hours and card readers on the pool, fitness room, and business center.

  • Monitoring and service: One vendor on the fire communicator, the alarm, and the repair call, so a trouble signal has one owner.

Fire Alarm Systems Age Faster Than Hotels

A hotel renovates rooms on a seven-year cycle and leaves the fire alarm panel in the electrical closet for twenty. When the manufacturer discontinues a panel, a single failed board can mean weeks of waiting for a used part while the building runs on fire watch. Planning a panel replacement before that failure lets the work be phased by floor and timed around occupancy. Guest-room notification is the other aging item, since sleeping areas have specific sounder and visible-signal requirements under NFPA 72. Our dedicated page on fire protection for hotels covers voice evacuation, sprinklers, and inspection cadence in detail.

Access Control Beyond the Room Key

Room locks are the guest-facing system and usually belong to the lock vendor. Everything else, the doors only employees should open, is where we work. A badge on the kitchen, laundry, engineering shop, and the money room replaces the master keys that disappear when a housekeeper quits. Cloud access control lets the general manager add a seasonal hire on a Friday and deactivate a departing one before the exit interview ends. Elevators can be restricted to guests and staff after midnight, and the pool, fitness room, and business center follow posted hours. The details sit on our hotel access control page.

Hotel Security Budgets

Typical installed numbers on our other commercial work, offered as a starting point rather than a quote: access control runs $1,500 to $3,500 per door with cloud hosting at $5 to $15 per door per month, retrofit cameras run $800 to $1,500 each, and fire alarm monitoring runs $45 to $95 a month per communicator. Annual NFPA 72 testing is priced by device count, and a hotel passes the 300-device tier quickly, so it is quoted per property after we count. A pre-opening or renovation project is cheaper per device than a retrofit in an occupied building, because ceilings and walls are already open. Management companies with several properties can standardize the platform and bring each hotel onto it as budgets allow.

Builders, Brands, and Takeovers

Hotel work usually starts one of three ways. Owners and management companies call for an existing property. General contractors building or renovating a hotel use us as the security and fire alarm subcontractor, and we work from the drawings, shop drawings, and permit set. National integrators with a brand-standard hotel program use us as a local installation partner in the Carolinas and Georgia. A property with a provider it has outgrown can use a system takeover, which keeps whatever hardware is worth keeping. We cover every market on the service area map.

Hotel Security Questions

Can you replace a fire alarm panel while the hotel is open?

Yes, and that is how most hotel panel work gets done. The new panel is staged and the work is phased by floor or wing so rooms can be sold around it, with a fire watch in place for any period the building is impaired. The sequence is in our panel replacement guide.

Where should hotel cameras go and where should they not?

Entrances, the front desk, lobby, elevator landings, ground-level stair exits, loading areas, the pool deck, and the parking lot. Never in guest rooms, restrooms, or anywhere a guest has a reasonable expectation of privacy. Corridors are covered at the ends and at the stairs.

Do front desk panic buttons need to be monitored?

They should be. A button that only rings a local siren relies on someone nearby, and at night nobody is. Ours route to a 24/7 central station that calls the property and dispatches when there is no answer.

Is your fire alarm license valid outside North Carolina?

No. Our license, SP.FA/LV.36697, is a North Carolina license. For hotels in South Carolina and Georgia we scope the work around the licensing in that state, and we will tell you plainly what we can and cannot perform before you sign anything.

How much does it cost to secure a mid-size hotel?

It depends on door count, camera count, and the age of the fire alarm. As a rough guide, access control is $1,500 to $3,500 per door, retrofit cameras are $800 to $1,500 each, and monitoring is $45 to $95 a month per fire communicator. We price it after a walkthrough through the contact form, with options at different budget levels.

I was switching from a different company and im so glad that I did. Zach came and installed a new security system for my business and was able to switch over my fire panel to meet county standards to stay in compliance. Zach was also able to switch my camera system to monitor. The transition process was smooth. Thank yall for helping us out at Brighter Minds Academy 2
