Fire alarm: Annual full test; semi-annual batteries and supervisory switches; monthly communicator signal test.
Sprinkler system: Quarterly gauge, valve, and waterflow checks; annual full inspection; five-year internal pipe inspection.
Backflow preventer: Annual certified test, report filed with the city water department.
Fire extinguishers: Monthly visual by staff; annual inspection and tag; six-year maintenance; 12-year hydrostatic test.

What a Missed Inspection Costs

The direct cost of a lapsed inspection is a citation and a re-inspection fee, which in most North Carolina cities runs $100 to $500 per visit. The indirect costs are worse. An insurance carrier that asks for inspection records after a loss and finds none can reduce or deny the claim. What Life Safety Service Costs

Bundling is where the savings come from. Each inspection carries a trip charge and a minimum, so a building that has four contractors coming four times a year pays four minimums. On one calendar, the alarm test, extinguisher tags, and backflow test happen on one visit, and the sprinkler quarterlies fall in between. As a budgeting guide, a small single-tenant commercial building typically spends $900 to $2,000 a year on all of its inspections combined, a mid-size sprinklered building $2,500 to $6,000, and a multi-building campus is quoted per building. Monitoring adds $45 to $95 a month per fire communicator. Repairs are separate and quoted from the inspection report.

What counts as a life safety system?

Any building system whose purpose is occupant protection during a fire or emergency: fire alarm and detection, sprinklers and standpipes, fixed suppression, extinguishers, fire pumps and their backflow preventers, emergency lighting, and in healthcare, nurse call and staff duress systems. Building codes group them because they are inspected together and fail together when neglected.

Can one company legally inspect fire alarm, sprinkler, and extinguishers?

Yes, provided the company holds the right licenses for each. We hold fire alarm and sprinkler inspection licensing in North Carolina and South Carolina and use our own technicians for every system on this page, which is what allows one calendar and one report.

How far ahead do you schedule inspections?

Annual and semi-annual items are scheduled a year out at the previous visit and confirmed 30 days ahead. Quarterly sprinkler visits are set as a recurring route. You get a reminder before each visit and a copy of the report after, and we hold the history so it is available when the fire marshal or your insurer asks.

What if the previous company will not release our records or panel codes?

It happens more than it should. We start with a fresh baseline inspection so you have current records regardless, and we recover or replace locked panels as part of a system takeover. You are never dependent on the old vendor's cooperation to stay compliant.

Do you handle emergency calls on nights and weekends?
