Business Security Systems

Most business owners shopping for a security system get quoted a package before anyone asks what the business actually is. A gas station open until midnight, a dental office with medication storage, and a warehouse that sits empty on weekends need three very different systems. We design around the business first, then quote the hardware.

What a Complete Business Security System Includes

A full system covers four jobs, and skipping one usually becomes obvious at the worst time. Cameras document what happened. Access control decides who gets in. Intrusion detection catches the break-in attempt. Fire and life safety handles the emergency that has nothing to do with crime. We install and service all four, so nothing falls into the gap between vendors.

  • Security Cameras: Interior and exterior coverage, recorded and retrievable when you actually need footage.

  • Access Control: Keyless entry and per-employee credentials that revoke in seconds when someone leaves.

  • Intrusion Detection: Door, window, motion, and glass-break sensors tied to 24/7 response.

  • Fire & Life Safety: Code-compliant fire alarms with the inspections and monitoring to match.

Sized for the Business You Actually Run

A single storefront doesn't need an enterprise platform, and a growing company shouldn't have to rip everything out at its third location. We spec systems that fit today and expand without starting over: add a camera, add a door, add a site, all on the same account. If you're managing something bigger than a single business, apartment buildings, campuses, multi-tenant properties, our commercial security systems page covers how we handle that scale.

One Vendor Instead of Four

The common alternative to a complete system is accumulation: a camera company two owners ago, an alarm company from a coupon, a locksmith for the doors, and nobody responsible for the whole. When something breaks, each vendor points at the others. We take over what's worth keeping, our equipment takeover process covers cameras, panels, and access hardware from prior installers, and put everything under one service relationship. One call, one team, one bill.

Monitoring Turns Hardware Into a Response

An unmonitored system is a recording of a crime, not a response to one. Every alarm we install can connect to central station monitoring, staffed around the clock, so a sensor trip at your shop at 2 a.m. becomes a verified dispatch instead of a voicemail you find in the morning. Video verification, pulling nearby camera footage to confirm a real intruder before police are called, keeps false-alarm fees off your ledger and keeps your address credible with responding officers.

Built Around How Your Business Operates

The businesses we secure most often, each with its own pattern of risk:

  • Retail Stores & Shops: Shoplifting coverage on the floor, cash-office access control, after-hours intrusion protection.

  • Gas Stations & Convenience: Overnight exposure, fuel-area cameras, and back-office restrictions for high-turnover staff.

  • Grocery Stores: Receiving-dock coverage, cooler and stockroom access, front-end incident documentation.

  • Medical & Dental Offices: Patient records, medication storage, and staff-only zones with a full audit trail.

Local Techs, Not a National Call Center

We install and service business security systems across our North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia service areas with offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Greensboro. When a camera goes down or a door reader stops reading, the person who shows up works for us, knows the system, and has probably been to your building before.

What Insurance Companies and Landlords Ask For

Business insurance applications ask pointed questions: monitored alarm, yes or no; camera coverage, yes or no; fire protection, what kind. The answers move premiums, and some commercial leases require documented security and fire alarm coverage before you can occupy the space. A system installed and documented by a licensed integrator gives you clean answers, and when an adjuster or landlord wants proof, the monitoring certificates and inspection records exist instead of needing to be invented after the fact.

Common Questions

How much does a business security system cost?

It depends on door count, camera count, and whether you want monitoring, which is why we quote after a walkthrough instead of over the phone. A single-storefront setup and a multi-building operation are different projects. The walkthrough is free, and the number we give you is the number, see our camera installation page for how the biggest cost variables break down.

Can you use the cameras and alarm equipment I already have?

Usually, yes. We audit existing equipment before recommending replacement, and our takeover service brings sound hardware under SLI management instead of scrapping it. If something genuinely needs replacing, we'll show you why.

Do I need monitoring, or can the system just alert my phone?

Phone alerts work until you're asleep, on a flight, or just didn't hear it. Central station monitoring means a staffed center answers every signal and follows your response plan whether or not you pick up. Most business policies also price insurance better with monitored systems.

What happens to the system if my internet goes down?

Cameras keep recording locally, and alarm panels communicate over cellular backup, so an internet outage doesn't take your security down with it. Remote viewing from your phone resumes when the connection does.

We're about to move locations. Should we wait to install?

Talk to us before the move, not after. Pre-wiring during a build-out or renovation costs meaningfully less than retrofitting finished walls, and we can plan the new location's system so it's live on day one. We handle this as part of a customized security plan.

I knew when I called and had a conversation with Donna that they would be a good fit to do business with. Donna and Zach was very friendly and responsive. I was switching from a different company and im so glad that I did. Zach came and installed a new security system for my business and was able to switch over my fire panel to meet county standards to stay in compliance. Zach was also able to switch my camera system to monitor. The transition process was smooth. Thank yall for helping us out at Brighter Minds Academy 2

Zach, John and Omar have been simply amazing. We had a difficult fight getting our business off the ground and Security & Life helped us in every way they could. They’ve been outstanding in every way. They designed and installed dozens of cameras, ethernet ports and access control systems correctly the first time, they always answer immediately when we call and any issue we have is resolved almost immediately. We will never work with anyone else for security, fire or low voltage because you simply cannot improve on perfection.
